Overview

This extension is a widget which allows you to conveniently and securely generate visual representations of codes (i.e. barcodes and QR codes) directly from your Zoho CRM instance. Currently it is available in the Products module, as well as in the detailed views of Products in this module.

The visual representations are automatically updated while you type or when changing any of the settings. Furthermore, changed settings can be saved so that they stay the same every time you use the extension in the future, saving you valuable time.

When the extension is used from within a Product’s detailed view, a dropdown menu allows you to conveniently select any field of the Product as a variable. When a code is generated, this variable will always have the value of the current record, thus allowing dynamic data population.

In Barcode mode any input is allowed (not only valid GTIN codes). The extension will automatically check any input provided and perform a real-time GTIN format and checksum validation. If the inputted code passes the validation, a hint will be displayed with the type of GTIN detected: GTIN-8, GTIN-12, GTIN-13, GTIN-14. Furthermore, an additional text may be inputted which can, or not, match the input of the code.

This extension has been designed with privacy and security in mind and therefore all operations take place in your CRM instance and in your browser. Unlike other extensions, no third-party APIs are used. Therefore, no data is sent to any third-party, not even to us.

Getting Started

1. Install the extension from the Zoho Marketplace.
2. The extension is now available in the Products module and in the detailed view of a Product.

How to use

You may use the extension by opening the widget from the Products module or from the detailed view of any record (Product) of this module.

To open the widget, click on the button on the Barcode / QR Code button at the upper-right side of the screen.

The main elements of the user interface, as highlighted in the image above, are:

1. Open extension button: it appears in the Products module, both in the list view as well as in the product detail view. Clicking it will open a widget with the extension.
2. Language and user guide buttons: the first of them allows you to set the language of the extension’s interface, which will be persisted in your browser. The second brings you to this page.
3. Rendered code: this is where your codes will appear. Right clicking on that area allows you to download the code either as a SVG or PNG file.
4. Evaluated code hint: this is where you can read the content of the Barcode / QR code like a reader device would. If the code contains any record data variables, the evaluated code will include their values for the current record instead of the placeholders.
5. Switch mode button: clicking on it will togle between Barcode mode and QR code mode.
6. Code options: the options for customizing your code. The available options will be different depending on whether you’re in the Barcode mode or in the QR code mode. You may need to scroll down to see all available options. Some input fields like Barcode, Text, etc. have a blue button next to them, which allows inserting variables for dynamic data population. For instance, ${Product_Name} would dynamically include the name of the currently open product.
7. Footer buttons:
• Print: opens a print prompt for physically printing the Barcode / QR Code currently being displayed.
• Download PNG: immediately starts the download of the output as a PNG image. To get the image as SVG, just right-click on the image displayed and select “Save Image As…”.
• Defaults: restore (but not save) the editor settings to the installation defaults.
• Save & Close: save the current settings and close the widget. This will only save the settings for the current mode (i.e. Barcode or QR Code).
• Close: close widget without saving any settings changes.

Uninstall

You may uninstall the extension from the Zoho CRM admin panel, going to the Zoho Marketplace section.
